my first blown out 5.56 case

Sure it wasnt an overcharge? Case longer than usual (forgot to trim?) Relaoded that case more than others? Ah...mixed range pick ups....i wonder if that case had been fired a few times before? I use that type of brass too...always a risk there. Brian

Is Dillon Precision always like this?

Lee, having the lowest prices and likely margins, probably needs to be a lot more careful. Brian

Is Dillon Precision always like this?

I have used their warranty a couple of times. Once my primer index stopped workimg reliably. I figured the spring wore out, so i bought one from a local store that stocked some sillon parts. Didnt solve the problem. Got on the phone with dillon tech support and after we tired a few more...

      308 reloading help...stumped

Saga update. I got an RCBS sizer today. Just had a few minutes to set it up. Did just what the instructions say: raise ram, screw die in unil contact, lower ram, turn die additional 1/4 turn, lock down. The shoulders on 3 caes i tried were all set back to .030 (relative measurement using the...

Its longer at the shoulder, but the same oal. Like the die is so long that it isnt even touching the out of spec shoulder. I may never know now With that case seemingly permanently stuck.

Leo, the last post on page 3 has the dims. basically i need to get .001-.003 shorter. the mil brass is way longer than that, about .009. Before I got the die plugged up for good, I was never able to get it to change the neck size. I still have no explanation for why the mil brass was so much...

I shake it up and let them dry. This is the first stuck case ive ever had. I think what screwed me was i ran the case through the die several times as I was messing with the die. It still felt pretty slick, but not enough I guess.... Uncommon to run a piece that many times...should have known.

      308 reloading help...stumped

Thanks for keeping this going guys. We will get to the bottom of it. I am using Dillon case lube. Though maybe not enough. I got a case stuck in there last night messing with things. Stuck good. So I started to drill out the case in prep to tap it so I could 'jack' the case out with a...

      308 reloading help...stumped

Well, i will check the set up once again. I think the die is there though but it cant hurt to check. For the record, not all of the military brass is MG pick ups. Most of what I have is LC brass fired in my M1A. I did measure the brass before and after going theough the die and found no...

Sorry if I did not male this clear, but i am down an EXTRA 1/8 turn from where this thread started. So I am mow down a total of about 1/4 turn. Made that change per this thread. This is conistent with how I understand the descriptions in this thread, as well as the written instructio s with...

OK...the ones that easily chamber measure 1.691-1.693". The ones that have extra resistance to close are 1.694-1.695, and the ones that wont chamber at all are 1.699. The shortest are the GMMs, the mids are the resized commercial brass, and the longs are the military brass. The latter two all...

I dont recall the exact measurement off the top of my head, but can check when i get home I am still confused as to how both the military and commercial brass are going through the same die and xoming oit different lengths. Brian

      308 reloading help...stumped

My full length sizer die is a hornaday, and the neck sizer i just got is an rcbs. Quick question on that....does the neck sizer set the shoulder back? I did the trick someone mentioned to check the shoulder length by using a 38spl case. What i found was the easy to chamber brass was about...

      308 reloading help...stumped

Thanks guys. I'll try and answer a few of the questions. - I resize, then trim. Trim length is in spec at 2.005" on all the cases. - The problem is with both military and commercial brass, though way worse with the military brass. Most of the commercial rounds I can close the bolt on...

      308 reloading help...stumped

I just made a batch of reloads for my 308. This was using 1x fired winchester brass (fired previously as factory ammo in this rifle), and I also tried some military brass. The main issue I had is that the rounds were a bit stiff to chamber. There was more resistance to the bolt handle than...

      AR build

I just got an SSA, no E. It is pretty light. Almost dangerous if you have put a lot of rounds on a standard pparts kit trigger. Very light in comparison. Will be great once Im used to it. Brian

      Two more rounds to reload...

Hp38 and tightgroup are on the faster end for pistol pwlowders. Magnum loads usually use slower powders. i am away from my manuals but I think Green Dot is an option. Maybe something like IMR 4227 which I know is used in some 44 and 45 col loads. The faster poweders like you jave could be...

Yeah, I know I need a A2 buttstock. I've got one, just need a lower for it. This lower belongs to my carbine, but is the only assembled one I have at the moment. Sht4Brns, that link seems broken. I get a 404 error when loading. -Brian
