I have a Dan Wesson Valor and I've shot plenty of Springfield's (in there various configurations) including the TRP. While a perfectly fine gun in its own right, the TRP is no Dan Wesson. To do better than the DW, IMHO, you'd have to step up to at least the Les Baer level of pricing.
Can't speak to the I.O. stuff, but I had a C39v2 as my first "starter AK" and it was a perfectly acceptable rifle. Accurate, smooth, and reliable. Only reason I traded it was to graduate up to a milled Arsenal, but I'd have no reservation recommending one - especially if you get a "good one"...
I ended up buying a TA11H-308G ACOG for the SCAR. It's a 3.5x35mm scope with the green horseshoe and BDC reticle and it's awesome! I've done some "spotting" out to 300 yards in my neighborhood with it and the fixed power seems to work just fine for me. I'm anxious to shoot it out that distance...
