Taurus Model 85 .38 special would be a good option. Might be a tad more than $250, but you can definitely get one under $300. Another, maybe better option would be a used S&W model 10 in .38 special. Those can sometimes be had for really good prices and it would be a better gun than the Taurus...
.357 is my favorite all-around handgun cartridge. My favorite handguns over the years have included many .357 revolvers including the S&W 19, 686, & 27. I also like the Ruger GP100 and SP101.
It depends on how many rounds you have through your gun. If it is fairly new, there is no need for a factory cleaning/replacement of springs.
Night sights are good and you can get the service package with sight sights for not much more than just the cost of night sights.
The SRT trigger...
Mecgar makes some mags for Sig from time to time. Sig also makes mags themselves in Germany.
If a factory Sig mag is marked "Made in Italy," it is made by Mecgar.
Consider them equal to a factory mag in terms of performance and reliability.
Meprolight does make sights for Sig.
Here's a link to a place that sells them:
Sig Sauer Meprolight Night Sights | SIGARMS Night Sights
Lots of other places sell them too.
If you're not far from Chicago, look up Nate Defensor. He is badass. He is trained in multiple Filipino martial arts styles and has some other backgrounds too. Look up 'Defensor Method"
This guy will teach you to be deadly with a blade, or empty-handed.
Sig 226.
Both are reliable and accurate. You can't go wrong with either, but I definitely prefer the Sig. Factory trigger on the Sig is better, controls are more accessible (for me anyway), I never really liked the open-top slide concept on the Beretta. Probably would never happen in real...
Filipino Martial Arts (Kali/Eskrima/Arnis) will provide an excellent self-defense foundation. Many people believe it to be a blade and stick fighting art, but it is a complete system. It teaches stick, sword, knife, empty hand, joint locks, throws, ground fighting, etc. Some of the more modern...
By the way, the guns I mentioned could be used for home defense, carry, or competition. I don't mean to disagree with your friend, but I know a few people that carry full-sized guns concealed.
I myself have CC'd: Sig P226, H&K USP .45, Full-sized 1911's, Sig P220 and probably a few others I...
$700 is a good budget for a first handgun.
Sounds like you are looking for a full-sized gun in .40 or .45. If it is your first handfun, look for a gun with a fairly simple manual of arms (not a lot of levers and gizmos). You might favor a single action auto (like a 1911 - Kimber, Springfield...
I've heard that it's a drop indicator too, but I have also heard that it was slotted to allow armorers to hang the guns on a wire.
I don't know which is true, but I have heard both of these explanations from various sources.
.40 and .45 use a 6 & 8.
9mm and .357 use an 8 & 8.
To answer the OP's question, go for the P225 and never look back.
There is nothing wrong with the 2022. But...The P225 is a work of art.
I have owned MANY Sigs and the P225 is one of the few I would NEVER get rid of. Another is my P229...
Top Gun Supply usually has the best deals on the factory barrels. I think they get about $160 for them.
I am a Sig shooter myself and I would only go with a factory barrel. Others may be as good, but there is nothing wrong with the factory one and I wouldn't want to void my warranty just to...
$400 to $450 for a used Glock 26 or 27. $450-$600 for a used Sig 226 (for a standard model, the specialty models will be more).
These guns really are designed for completely different purposes.
A G26/G27 is a concealed carry gun. A 226 is a full sized "duty" type gun.
I am a big guy and...
Well, this really won't help you because I don't believe he does moly resin coating, but Eric Gutridge has a shop in Griffith. He does excellent trigger work and a whole bunch of other things.
The Sig Sauer P239 is definitely worth looking at. It would be on the big end of what you say you are looking for though. 3.6 inch barrel I believe. But, they are elite-level in terms of accuracy and reliability. Sigs fit the hand very well too. I have large hands and the grip feels great. My...
I did I-III years ago and it was worth every penny. Take a notebook, there will be a lot of things taught. Almost the entire first day is spent in the classroom. There was a little shooting in the afternoon. Days 2 and 3 were spent mostly on the range. We did get a brief (2 hours or so) night...
