I shot both before purchasing an XD. Both shot really well but the XD fit my hand better than the Glock 26. It was also less costly, came with more gear and has a higher magazine capacity. I don't think you could go wrong with either. I just thought the XD was the better choice for me.
Spyderco claims that the stones will not wear out. I have been using mine for about 15 years and I can't find any wear spots. You should clean the stones with an abrasive cleanser like Comet once in a while to remove the steel deposits.
My daughters and wife occasionally bump into it while giving me hugs(IWB carry). If I think I might be in a situation where I'll get hugged or bumped, I will either pocket carry or wear a Smart Carry holster.
The only folders that I have had lock failures with are the CRKT M16 series. Most of my Bucks, Spydercos, Benchmades, SOGs and Cold Steels are rock solid. I do have a handful of fixed blades too. Not as convenient as my folders but there is zero chance of lock failure.
I have had some trouble with CRKT's liner locks. If you apply moderate pressure to the back of the blade on the one's I own, the lock starts to disengage. I don't feel very confident carrying them as tactical weapons because I can't be sure that they won't accidentally close during emergency...
I sweat a lot and I sometimes find rust on my guns and knives because of it. I treat all of my knives and guns with a Marine Tuf Cloth from Sentry Solutions. It bonds to the metal and really does a great job preventing rust.

Just once, a long time ago. I was single and living in an apartment in NJ. I stayed home from work because I had a stomach bug. I heard someone messing with my lock and then the door opened. I had my gun next to my bed so I leveled it at him from the darkness of my bedroom. He didn't see me at...
My buddy didn't want to spend $25 to buy a BB gun trap so he built one out of plywood. He showed it to me and asked if I wanted to be the first to try it out. It looked good...sturdy construction, angled steel plate to deflect the BBs downward into a bunch of phone books that were placed with...
Wow! That's quite a story.
When I was about 6 years old, I was in my grandmother's house when it was broken into. Fortunately, the BG took what he wanted and left immediately. It was a life changing experience though. As soon as I was old enough to buy weapons I went out and bought knives and...
I agree. The reason those crappy Ginsu knives will cut for so long without being sharpened is because of the serrations. The points of the serrations protect the inner curve. I still prefer my plain edge knives over serrated for most tasks but as long as you don't need a good looking cut, you...
I have purchased Case knives from Shepherd Hills Cutlery before. They have a very good selection of knives, including damascus, and the prices are decent too.

I carry two knives minimum (Swiss Army Super Tinker plus one of several "tactical" folders) and keep a few others in my computer backpack, plus a spare or two in the car. If I do forget, I've a few backups.
The company that I work for has you sign an employee agreement that states that they can search your vehicle and belongings whenever they want to. This is mostly to help prevent industrial espionage and theft but they also do not want weapons (firearms and large knives) on the property.
I completely agree. I am sure my employer would find or fabricate something to fire me over if they found out I was keeping a gun in my car. They are a $9B a year company. There's no way I could afford the court battle.
