Last night Mrs. Fenway opened the door to a team of aggressive door to door sales people. Today she heard a knock on the door to find a huge 6' 5'' man with the same paper work in his hand through the peep hole. She did not answer. This guy started crossing through our side yard into the back and she lost track of him. She freaked out and was upset.

She called FPD and an officer was here in minutes. The officer tracked the guy down who did not have a permit and then spent time talking to Mrs. Fenway telling her she did the right thing by calling the police. Not sure what this guy was up to but it was enough to make her very upset.

    Thanks FPD :yesway:

That's great they responded so fast! I thought many times to get one of those " no solicitor's" door stickers for our front door, but honestly, I'm not sure they would even know what a "solicitor" is. :D I'm glad Mrs. Fenway is okay. She did the right thing!

    This is the truth.

Glad everything turned out ok for Mrs. Fenway.

Thanks, The officer was very quick and took extra time to be nice to Mrs. Fenway and tell her she did the right thing. Might seem silly to many but she was upset and frightened.

I think any woman would be frightened is someone came and knocked on the door. Then when no one answered went around the house. I find no fault at all with what she did.

Funny thing is, I bet the solicitor is posting on another site how he was harassed by police, and that he has a right to sell his wares. He may further counter that "no solicitation" signs are only a request, and unless he is specifically told not to be on the property, cutting through someone's yard is perfectly ok.

No solicitation is a request. Private property not commonly open to public is different than Walmart.
