I accomplished 2 firsts tonight. I fired a Glock and I fired 40 S&W. Yep, I went shooting with a friend tonight and he allowed me to shoot his Glock 22. I figured the recoil would be worse. I figured the trigger wouldn't be so good. I was pleasantly surprised in both departments. VERY FUN gun to shoot. Recoil was not bad at all! Not much worse than my 9's. Trigger was nice too. Me likey!

Here's a pic of Glock 22 (thread cannot be deemed worthless now).

Nice, the perceived recoil of a pistol chambered in the 40 S&W cartridge is over exaggerated by some shooters. I'm glad you enjoyed the G22.

Agreed. .40 is my caliber of choice. 16+1 rounds of .40 in an xdm is pretty awesome IMHO. More than enough rounds, and more than enough ballistic energy.

I have had more than 1 of my friends tell me to steer clear of 40. Not an issue to me. The only issue would be having to buy another batch of ammo.

I don't own a striker fired pistol, but would like to. I am considering Glock, S&W M&P, or Springfield Armory XD. I have fired a Glock now, and really like it. Very interested in firing the other two before I make a decision. Also, I need to decide on chambering.

I like Glock, but you can't go wrong with any of those three. I've settled on 9mm, but whichever you choose you can find plenty of people to tell you that you're right and plenty to tell you that you're wrong.

I would also add a Sig to your list. I have the SP2022 in 9mm and .40 and enjoy them both!

I would love to own a .40 but with the ammo being what it is I will have to wait.

I have been finding .45 available at Wally world lately. Not being able to get 22 ammo blows my mind.
