... 2003 Mercury Marauder. For those of you who know... you know. For everybody else, the Marauder is a luxury performance sedan based on the Ford Panther platform. Mercury Grand Marquis to be exact. However, it features much improved handling, and styling, and most importantly the same double overhead cam engine they put in the Mach 1 of the day. Basically, it's a big 4 door Mustang that looks like a cop car using an old muscle car name Mercury used as an option back in the 70s. The Marauder in the Panther platform was only made for 2 years... 2003-2004.

The story: I hate to do this (I know, everybody says that) but I’m putting my Marauder up for sale. I absolutely love the **** outta this car, but I can’t afford both it, and a truck. I want both. In fact, I’ve really been needing the truck more lately. I’m building a Jeep CJ7, and need to haul parts. Also, I’m a VFW commander. I need to be able to haul a large amount of fish fry supplies on a weekly basis. I can’t afford both the Marauder, and a truck (disabled vet living on VA disability) so I compromised, and bought a Suburban. Thing is… now I have a vehicle payment for the first time in 20 years. Baby has to go.
She’s a 2003 (or “300A” as they say, so no traction control) As such, I run 255/55s at all corners. Tires are Continental DWS 06+, and they’re relatively new, with lots of tread left. Stereo is all aftermarket. About $2500 worth. Kenwood head unit, with JL Audio everything else. C-3 components, (front & rear) 12” sub, 5 channel amp. Sounds wonderful.

I’m the 2nd owner, having bought it from a guy in Chicago. (ok, 3rd owner, I got it from his son, but it was still in his name) it had 111K on it then. It has 228K on it now, and has been my daily for 5 years.
The engine was rebuilt (Accurate Engines in MI) at 164K. It also has a MartyO tune, put on by Marty himself at his shop. (again, if you're in the know... this is a good thing) I was on the way to FL for vacation… A K&N air intake was on it when I got it… still is.

Ok… the bad. She’s a 30 footer. In other words, she looks real good from about 30 feet. Like I said, this has been my daily, so the paint isn’t the most shiny. There’s a small hole in the driver’s seat. Was there when I got it. Looks like maybe somebody sat down with a screwdriver in their back pocket. It hasn’t gotten any bigger over the last 5 years. There’s also a hole on the passenger’s seat, but I had to tape that one closed. It needs the blend door put in. I already have it, just not put in.
    Car is in Remington, IN.
I know she’s not perfect but with prices going up, an awesome stereo, and a grand in almost new tires, a rebuilt (numbers matching) engine,

    I say she’s worth $7,000 OBO.
If you need it cheep... $5,000 less the speakers, and amp.

    "When can I see it?"
That answer is... almost any time.
Remember, I've no job. (other than VFW Commander) I live on VA disability.
Come to the Remington, Indiana IGA, and look across the street to the East. You'll see it.

This baby is fast, good handling, and comfy.
Stereo sounds amazing, and so does the engine. It will put a smile on your face.
