this winter when the wind howls, I need a project,
So I wanted to get all the old photo's into the digital format with tags , dates, and names,
Has anyone done this and is there a recommended scanner, I know I can use my flatbed but that's slow and I don't have software to clean up photos. something like this is what I'm thinking

I use an Epson V600 scanner I bought years ago. The software is what does it for you, I started with the free copy of VueScan then bought the pro version. I scan slides, negatives, prints, documents, and small objects. If you need to do more fixing that what VueScan does then get IrfanView, it is free and will do a lot, cropping, scaling, resizing. If you need even more get Gimp, it is free and does what Photoshop can do. I've used Gimp to remove power lines in pictures, odd looking limbs (tree not people), and such.

I put 3 to 6 prints on the scanner at the same time and select which one to scan with VueScan.
