    No the 100% correct way is to do a tax free transfer on a ATF Form 5.

    However, most SOT gunsmiths will also accept it on a repair letter with no ATF paperwork as well. Call the 'smith and ask him which he requires. If he doesn't know what you are talking about then I would have reservations with sending him a NFA gun to start with.
