6th grader brings gun to school for self defense (?)

The student was apprehended after another student informed teachers that the boy pointed the gun at her head and said he was going to kill her.

While I think that there should be armed ppl in schools I do not think an 11 year old child is responsible enough to carry a gun.

is it really possible that any parent would condone that???

Given the other things that we hear and read of what parents do or don't do, this is probably one of the few incidents in which a parents concerns are well founded......though the execution could be drastically tweaked to account for a sensible approach.

There are quite a few really, really stupid people out there. I could definitely see some parents encouraging stupidity of this magnitude.
