Would like to reload for this round are their any good source for brass, or is it just not cost effective to reload for this round? I have some Yugoslavia brass can it be reloaded? are the berdan primers a problem? Thanks

You can not deprime berdan primed brass with standard tools. You'll need a berdan decapper - which basically pieces the cup and rips it out - like an icepick. Also berdan and boxer primers are not dimensionally identical.

I would need a vast quantity of brass to make the investment in tools to justify bothering to reload berdan primed brass.

Steel cases (like Wolf) are 'work hardened' by the heat and pressure of firing, and need to go through an annealing process to soften them, or the case can split.

Given the price of store bought ammo it's not feasable, at all.
You can however buy something like Winchester brass and Barnes TSX bullets and load up a couple of hundred rounds of excellant SD ammo.
If you have empty Berdan brass cases, save them up and then take them to the metal recycling place. The price of metal is going up.

I've reloaded 7.62x39, and unless you're loading for accurized target or hunting loads, I don't see a reason to load it (aside from the experience). Steel cased stuff for plinking is reasonably accurate, so reloading is probably not worth the work, time and expense.

It is really hard to find good hunting ammo for the 7.62 X 39 at a reasonable price. If you are willing to invest in reloadable brass, that AK47 round can be very effective and able to do what you would normally use a 30/30 for. I see reloadable brass in catalogs, but it never seems to be on sale.

I do reload for my mini thirty, using lapua cases and i hate losing them.with this set up i am using .308 nosler b.t. 125gr. and horndy 130gr. the ak has a .310 bore and you can get bullets for it.the mini has been a real pain in the rear to reload for, did some work the gun itself and things are looking up.if i had an ak don't think i would reload for it,but thats me its up to you if you to spend time and money.i sure would like to have 7.62x39 upper for my ar to try out.
