It's interesting to hear the gun can't stabilize that bullet, according to these guys. What are your thoughts?

Is this round just "show your man card" round or does it really serve a purpose?

At 700 grains does it really need to 'serve a purpose'? :): If it hits you then you are in very deep poo.

I was thinking like maybe a 20 yard shot on a bear. If you can't hit it because the bullet is tumbling, it really does you no good.......until the bear is 10 feet away.

Yeah, extremely heavy flat nosed wadcutters are just the cats meow.
That half incher though... Don't think I was ever that mad at anything besides fire ants.

I bought some from a company out of Alaska the year I used the 500 S&W in my Encore carbine. The recoil sheared off both forend screws and destroyed the holes. I had to send the barrel to Bullberry to have it dovetailed for Contender forend bushings.

    .
That looks like it's going to make a big hole and not slow down.

Nice pic of the bullet at different velocities NKBJ.

I would want someone with more ballistics knowledge than me to confirm but across 20 feet I don't see a tumbling bullet missing. I would think the bigger issue is getting off a reasonably accurate shot (no matter what the round is) under the stress of a big azzed bear about to mow you down and eat your head.

    Thanks.
It was an interesting experiment. Turned a .357 frame Ruger into a 40-65 Winchester.
