Personally, I see it as a limited use item. Unless you're shooting out of a carbine, I wouldn't recommend adding the additional stresses/wear to your handgun.

"One source lists the 9 × 19 mm +P+ loading as having a pressure of 42,000 psi, an 18% increase over the standard pressure of 35,000 psi."

9mm, by the way, is the most commonly produced +P+ ammo.

I thought +P+ was not a valid industry standard?? Guns are rated for +P but anything over that is anecdotal from what I understand, though I could be wrong

Would you intend this as self defense ammo? Could make it your last round :)

Shot that and Federal 9BPLE. Honestly, only got about 1300 FPS with the GD out of a G19. With Vihtavouri powder, I can get a normal pressure load that will do that with a 115grainer and with a LOT less flash or pressure/wear and tear.

115 gr. probably will lack penetration in critters and will definitely when accelarated that fast (opens quick and reliably, but will dump energy quick and slow down upon impact). 124-125gr +P will do fine.

That is correct. There ARE standards for +p in many chamberings (but not .40S&W!) but +p+ is simply "more than +p".

I've fired the Federal variety out of my Kahr CW9 with no il-effects. I don't want to give it a steady diet but a few never hurt the Kahr.

The 9mm 115gr +P+ has been putting down bad guys for years and some police departments are still very happy with it.

I carry a Winchester brand of +p+ - a 115gr JHP that achieves 1400 FPS in my G17. Nothing but the best for anyone shooting at me.
