I am considering a new finish for my 870. Cerakote was at the top of the list until I started doing some research, now I am looking at Cerakote, Moly Resin, W DLC, and NP3. Or just getting it re-parkerized. It's an old Police Magnum and the finish is starting to look a little haggard. Any thoughts?

I got an old 1100 SP (they were parkerized).
Had staining, so got can of Gunkote spray.
Been on maybe 2 yrs now, held up OK to some rough turkey hunts.
    Only did receiver.

Did an abused DU Atlantic Flyway. It looked good but wasn't as durable on that one, even though I had it blasted with proper stuff.

Dunno if the parkerizing helped on my old SP or what, but I'm pleased with it.

I've got an LWRC that was Cerakoted from the factory. It's as tough as the powdercoat over parkerizing that PTR does, if not tougher. I swear by it now.

Good to hear about the Cerakote durability. The guy that I am looking at to do my gun does Cerakote and Norell's MolyResin. He says I may be happier with the Norell's, any thoughts? He also does DLC, which I am considering for the internals.

It might be safe to say Norells is harder then cerakote. I have an old friend who would have an opinion on that, if I ever manage to track him down I will ask him. The thing with Norrel's is he clearly has never been an expert at marketing his product. Hence why Cerakote could come along and just blow past him.

Oh yeah, the website is a disaster. . . . I'm sure that's just the tip of the iceberg. Thanks!

Do you have personal experience? His website has been hacked by pornbots. Doesn't really leave me with a warm and fuzzy. Also, the last I am seeing, wait times can be over eight weeks AND you can get "bumped" due to a larger order?! Not sure I want to go without my gun that long. . . .
