Sad story on the news today about a 13 year old girl who was evidently accidentally shot and killed by her 15 year old brother.

    Here's the link:
Teenage girl dies after being shot : Local News : Evansville Courier Press

I had spent some time speaking with my wife this weekend about my views on firearms. She is pretty anti-gun, but she has recently been supportive of my application for a LTCH. Needless to say, this incident reinforced her opinion that guns are inherently bad.

Definitely a sad and tragic story. Just didn't know if the story made news in other parts of the state.

I feel bad for the parents. At the same time, it really begs the question. "Why weren't they being supervised?" I'm all for teaching young ones how to shoot at an early age. At the range today there were a couple of boys under the age of 10 there with their dads. They spent 90% of their time behind the yellow line, and one at a time were allowed to shoot the .22 pistol a few times.

Either way, I still feel sorry for the parents.

This must be horrible for the parents. I feel bad for everyone involved

That being said something is very wrong here. Were the kids told "don't point this at your sibling and pull the trigger?" :dunno:

Isn't a 15 year old high school age?

Only trust half of the things your kids tell you, and nothing the news tells you.

Plus 10+ for that bit of wisdom but I do feel bad for the parents and the sibling if it was truly accidental. That being said, someone, pointed, pulled the trigger or mishandled the firearm :xmad: but we can blame the evil firearm
