I've seen the bottle openers made from .50BMG brass. Thinking that different sizes collected and hung might make for an interesting wind chime, if perhaps not sweetly sonorous.

I have seen quite a bit of trench art of late around.
I am sure thAt much of what I was seeing was modern rendition of trench art. One guy had 15 pieces and the patina did not look correct. Fifteen pieces seemed a bit high on three tables of good at a gun show. Maybe it was from a collection.

That is nifty trench art for sure.

Wish I had pics, my grandmother showed me a knife made from a 6.5 mannlicher cartridge that was passed down to her.

Pull the bullet out the case and there was a small knife blade pressed into the soft lead base of the bullet. I find stuff like this pretty interesting.

I've thought for years about a windchime made from 20mm (or larger) brass.
I think it would be great looking and sounding.

Made this for my grandson's B'Day. The case is from WW1, has an 1898 date on it. My father had it and I remember playing with it growing up. I turned the bullet from maple on the wood lathe.
He uses it for doing his home work.

And just like that, a liberal teacher's head exploded...

It is a beautiful thing your Grandson will be doing homework, including history, right next to a piece of WW1 history in brass.
