A friend of mine is trying to raise some money for a new rifle stock. He brought this over and asked if I could help him to determine it's value and possibly sell it for him. I know nothing about these so if anyone here does, I'd appreciate opinions on it's value. The mag is the only thing that it comes with, no holsters or anything like that.

I tried to get pictures of all of the markings I could see. If more photos are needed just ask.

    Thanks in advance

I am an amateur when it comes to Lugers.. but from what I can see in the pics the gun seems to have all matching numbers, It was made by DWM, and "1914" was the date it was built. But don't hold me to that like I said I am an amateur.

I am not an expert, but it looks like you have a DWM Imperial Model Luger (WWI era), your numbers are matching all around except for the magazine (which looks to be an 08 and not a 16). That being said, if the bore is in VG/Exc condition, my blue book says possibly up to 1k or higher.. also, if he has holster, accessories, that bumps the prices up.

7.65? Oh I would so buy that if it was VG or better and less than about $1200. Looks damn good on the outside, bet the bore is beautiful.

Yeah, I would agree, $1200ish is a good start. Commercial DWM, looks to be in original condition and matching. $1200 would be minimum.

I spoke with the most knowledgeable guy I know about the pistol last night and he says it's a WW1 era commercial pistol. The grips and mag aren't original and hurt the value considerably in his opinion. He told me it should be worth $750 - $800, based on the pics, to an educated collector.

Guess, then, that if the owner decides to sell, that he doesn't run across an educated collector as a buyer! :D

I know the owner REALLY well. :D He may have only had the gun a few years, but it has been VERY well taken care of.
