Any way to get a better search engine, tie into Google?

I'm trying to decide between ordering a used police issue S&W Model 15 sight unseen off the internet, or a brand new Ruger SR9. I've seen a number of SR9 posts and threads here, asked questions on them. Tried to use the search button, then the advanced search, to find them. Tried searching threads, then posts, all open forums, then individual forums. Each time came up with no matches.

Tried "SR9" "SR-9" "SR 9" without any luck. Am I the only one that has trouble with this search engine, does my search-foo really suck that bad?

I've seen other v-bulletin boards use google to search their sites. Don't know anything about the how they do it, but would this perhaps be an improvement?
