Me too. I will admit, riding with HUNDREDS of people make me nervous. But 20 miles? Pssh. Piece of cake.

    Don't forget your headlight!

The Freeman Special, a GIANT Roam II, is semi-customized and street legal.:D

    You don't forget your bell!:D

I picked up a Bontrager ION 2 light over the weekend. I think it's only 22 lumens though....

Bell? I don't own one. I suppose I should get one, since I'll be riding in Indy that night...

    It is a hoot.

Its not a race. So if you get jammed at the start line for a while, just chill.

Ive had good success with a headlamp and/or a handlebar mounted light. I would recommend both.

And a tail light is a good use of funds.

Oddly, I was shot with a bb gun as I rode to the last one we did.
Thankfully, I was hit with the bb and knew what it was, instead of seeing the barrel of a rifle sticking out of the car full of teenagers "having fun".

So be careful. It's well organized. But carry enough water and support so you aren't relying on the kindness of strangers to get home in the event of an equipment failure.

Yeah, you need a bell, that whole state law thing. Law-abiding bike owners.:D

After the work out tonight, got the bike cleaned and ready (I had been riding it dirty, but it felt wrong).

Giant Roam II ready to go:

Where ever my GPS says I am
amboy49, you certainly can. I have two friends with recumbent trikes probably doing it this year. I did it last year for the first time. Got jammed up at the finish line with the start and trying to get to monument circle. Also after some museum got in a traffic jam because of a down rider waiting for an ambulance. I heard a rider go down (actually heard their helmet hit the ground) right at the start. It is a nice relaxing ride, last year my wife and I rode with her brother and some of his co workers to eat for 2.5 miles, then 8.5 back to IUPUI before riding 16 miles on the ride, then rode two miles the next morning to eat. This year parking and everything should be easier because they moved it to the fairgrounds over IUPUI. They have police stationed at places, marshals for route direction.

Have a front headlight (one that will last more then an hour at least), a back light, helmet at least. I am going to have two head lights this year. There is thousands of riders in this.
