I have a Savage Edge rifle in .223. I mounted the standard 2 piece scope bases, mounted my rings and scope, and I found that I just can't move the scope back far enough to get the proper eye relief.
So I found a tactical scope base on E-bay and I am hoping this will solve my problem. Has anyone else had this problem?

I put on a BSA 3x-9x-50mm. At first I thought the buttstock was just a little long for me, but it is the same length as other rifles I own. It seems like I have to move my head way forward to get a good view of the crosshairs.

I have one in .308, I bought it with the scope package because it was a good deal. I will eventually get a one piece base for it when I get a good scope for it. The Savage long action is one of the hardest bolt rifles to get a scope on, and all of the Edge/Axis rifles are built on the long action.

The long action is precisely why I don't have an edge/axis in .223. It's completely unnecessary and only used to save money. Cheap glass with limited eye relief just isn't going to work for a lot of shooters on that platform. A rail may help. Regardless, it'll be trial and error.
