ok ar guys I have a question for you which of the following 2 buffers would increase lock time the most an H2 vs hydralic enidine buffer

I understand the principle behind having a heavy buffer takes more gas to move/unlock

what I dont get is what stage the hydralic buffer works. does it compress before the buffer spring? there by taking longer to unlock
    or
does it just soften recoil by adding padding when it hits the end of the buffer tube? and not really addy any unlock time just more overall cycle time

    thanks
