    There is no permit required to carry open or concealed in Arizona. You can get a carry permit in AZ so it reciprocates in other states.

    Interesting. It's only a $80 fee as well, so that's not bad at all. Do you happen to know how often a non-resident would need to renew? I sometimes go to Ohio and would like to be able to carry there as well.

    A renewal packet which includes a renewal application and a return envelope is mailed to the permit holder utilizing the mailing address that is on file with CWPU. Packets are mailed approximately 90 days prior to the expiration date on the permit.

    Administrative Code Excerpt:

    R13-9-204. Renewal of Concealed Weapons Permit

    A. A Concealed Weapons Permit expires five years after it is issued. If a Concealed Weapons Permit expires, the former permit holder shall not unlawfully carry a concealed weapon until the former permit holder applies for and is issued a new Concealed Weapons Permit.

    B. To renew a Concealed Weapons Permit, the permit holder shall, no more than 90 days before or 60 days after the date of expiration:
    1. Submit to the Department the application required under R13-9-202(1);
    2. Submit the fee required under R13-9-102(A);
    3. If not a citizen of the United States, submit a copy of the front and back of the federally issued document that authorizes the permit holder to be in the United States; and

    C. If a former permit holder fails to comply with subsection (B), the former permit holder may obtain a new Concealed Weapons Permit only by complying with all provisions of R13-9-202.

    D. If a permit holder is a member of the United States armed forces, Arizona national guard, or reserves of any military establishment of the United States and is on federal active duty and deployed overseas at the time the permit holder's Concealed Weapons Permit expires, the permit holder may renew the permit by complying with subsection (B) within 90 days after the end of the overseas deployment. To renew a permit under this subsection, the permit holder shall include evidence of the deployment with the renewal application.

    Also, you can substitute other suitable training for the 8 hour course.

    I received the Arizona application after requesting one at https://www.azdps.gov/About/Contacts/Email/?c=CCW.
    They accepted the alternate training documents requested and the Hendricks County Sheriff’s Department took the fingerprints.

    The permit arrived six weeks later.

    The course is only worth the money if you do not have other acceptable training.

    The permit cost $60 and is valid for five years.

    Shameless plug here. A person can drive to Columbus and take an NRA Basic Personal Protection in the Home course at Sand Creek Conservation club. Cost is only $75. You spend the day with 3 to 5 certified instructors with good resumes. You have a good time, have good discussion. Then we pass out all the forms you need for a Florida license. Plus the certificate is good for AZ and VA. If IL ever gets their act together the course will also work for the first 8 hours of the 16 hour requirement. All seems pretty easy and affordable to me guys. We host the class in March and September.
