In case you're interested and live close to Bedford, looks like the Bedford police department is scheduling another of their beginner's hand gun class. Firearms training for civilians Oct 21st is class room from 6 to 9 and Oct 22nd is all day.

I went a few years ago and at the time it was $50 and a pretty good deal.

hmm, might be a good way to get to know the locals having just moved back.

"I just bought this here Guh-lock thirty-fo. Can one o' you boys teach me how to shoot this thang?"

I think that'd be rather humerous...

Show up with your "new gun"...your reloads in a factory ammo box...

Ask for help. Make a buck-shot pattern at first... Get some one-on-one instruction... Become immediate "ace". hehe

I actually suggested at our PD as a money maker. It was turned down due to the possibility of liability. Its one of the few times I agreed, that my admin was right.

They probably checked with the city attorney's office. ;)

I wouldnt be surprised. FWIW, the Bedford PD has done this once or twice per year for several years now. It's a basic class and not being an expert or in the tactical training biz, I thought they did a nice job.

Where can we get information, and schedule for this? I looked at the Bedford PD website (useless) and at the Lawerence County Sheriffs site and could not find anything about this.

There will be a class room portion 6p - 9p on Fri. 21 Oct. On Oct. 22 is the range part. For details call Bedford PD, 275-3311 ask for Capt. Gilbert.

The Dept. has been doing this for several years. It is well recieved in the community. It is for beginners and emphasizes safety and basic gun handling and marksmanship. That said there are a number of return students.

    What he said^^^^^^^^^^

I was thinking about going through it again with my son (he's wanting to apply for his LTCH)...but scheduling conflicts......

When my wife and I went, the class was full, BTW.
