I have a 1911 with a lighter 19lb Wilson main spring. Can I get way with shooting what ever out of this gun or should I shoot lighter loads? If I need to shoot lighter loads than what would be best?

    Thanks.

I think most loads would be ok with a 19# mainspring. In theory, a too light mainspring would I think cause light primer strikes, especially on hard primers, and could as well lead to some frame battering as the slide isn't slowed down enough as it cocks the hammer (someone who better understands exactly the mechanics of the 1911 cycling action can correct me here); but I don't think a 19# in good condition would preclude shooting most everything you want. Might want to stay away from some really hot loads I guess. I think the standard Wilson spec mainspring in my CQB is a 25# one.
