    Great article.
Well thought out, like every tool a large knife has a purpose.
It's tough to make an "all around" knife.
    Just too many individual purposes.

And this is why there are many different types and sizes of fixed blades. They each have their own purpose.

I am a big fan of the bigger blades. I have always been from the school of thought that a bigger blade can still do a smaller blades work just not as well but a smaller blade can't do the bigger blades work.

That being said I am a lover of bushcraft blades also so medium sized blades work well for me also.

Good point. I love my large sharps. However, I find that my 3" - 4" sharps get more use.

As for the author's view on serrations: My personal preference is no serrations except for steak knives and rescue knives, but I disagree that they are impossible to sharpen. I have no problem sharpening serrated knives.

;) OH NO, NO SERRATIONS ON A STEAK KNIFE!

I don't want to saw these Elk Medallions!

I want to slice them, lovingly, LOL

That's very kind, but the fact is that there are many. What is so cool is that pro sharpeners are so generous in sharing their knowledge and helping each other out. Just a great bunch of men and women. Always learning.

I have found that knife enthusiasts who aren't necessarily expert sharpeners are also a fascinating and diverse group whom I love to be around. Good peeps.

Not many no more about sharpening than you do!
