Just got an Aimpoint 5000 XD off of another member here (snorko is a great guy to deal with by the way!). Had to get another kudos in for him.
Put it on my FAL and went to sight it in today. Thought I was going to have to send it back, he offered a 7 day inspection and sight in since he said he never shot with it. I was shooting way low at only 25 yards. Could hardly get it on the paper and ran out of adjustment. Something has to be wrong I thought, as I was coming up with creative curses for the FAL and the Aimpoint.
Took the rings loose and lifted the body out, huh... there was a piece of lead tape in the bottom of the front ring. Pulled that out and tightened everything up, lo and behold, it was on the paper. Fine tuned it a bit then moved out to 50 yards, got it tuned a little more, then out to 100. Made sure I was hitting minute of irritant at 100, busted up some rocks, ect... all is good.
Check the obvious before inventing new curse words...
