I have a weakness for military rifles and mausers for sure.
So I come across Bubba's 6.5 M96 and the good news is it has a vg bore, full length wood and metal, all matching #.
Bad news, drilled and tapped and bolt handle bent.
I was telling myself not to buy it, but I did not listen.
Anyway, I get it home, shim the back of the scope mount ( must not be the correct base ), clean the bore, slap a scope on it and grabbed some ammo.
    Guys did I ever get lucky. First 3 -1 1/4", next 3 - 2", last 3 - 1 1/4" at 150 yards.
I am one very happy camper!
PS load is 40 gr. H-380 and 140 gr HPBT

The Swedish Mauser is a work of art and my all time favorite rifle. I have 6 of them and each of them is a tack driver with the right ammo.

Congrats on not listening to yourself;)

Nice! I picked one up a year or two back myself, very happy with it. Luckily mine isnt sporterized but even still they can be great bolt action guns. Making me itch to take it to the range again soon!

Like an idiot I failed to score the very nice Swede that BTB in Seymour had last year. It was in excellent condition for a 1930s gun, especially compared to the very rough Spaniard cousins just a bit further down the rack.

I've been blessed with an unmokested 1908 m96; using cheap prvi partisan ammo, I get 1" groups at 50 yds; about 3" at 100. My eyes are iffy, could surely do better with a scope. I'd guess OPs results are typical for these sweeties!

My old eyes just do not do irons like they used to. So I shoot more with scopes these days.
I will post some pics maybe next time I take it out.
The chamber on it is a little larger than my other Swedes so I will have to keep my brass separate. I only neck size if I can help it.
All my Swedes shoot good but this one surprised me.
