Normally on a scoped rifle I would have back up iron sights for close range and that type of thing. In this case I have no iron sights at all. Would it be absurd to have a custom set up to run both a red dot and the Bushnell or is this just a silly thought. I have gone back and forth, I really like the red dot for anything under 50 yards but for anything longer (I have shot out to about 250 or so) I definitely like having the glass. This rifle has no particular role in life other than to be a plinker and occasional pest control as the starlings have moved to the city.

    Thoughts and options please.

check around i think i've seen a weaver rail that mounts to a scope, if not, and you have a ar look for the angled mount that fits on the front sight post, or i know ive seen a mount that adapts to put a rail in between the existing rail that will allow you to rotate your rifle to the 11 or 1 o'clock position to see the red dot sight

if neither of those will work and you have extra money to spare look at a eotech oe aimpoint with a flip to the side magnifier
