Carry "protection"?

O.k. I understand the concept, but the practicle application has me a bit confused.
I found some "protection " while cleaning out my new house, but I'm not sure how to use it.
Maybe like a Talisman, I just carry it in my pocket in leiu of a rabbits foot.

Yep, you've got it right, just the way most people use their gun. It might help to look at it once in a while, and glue on some fancy doo dads.
