I was looking around the net today looking at bullet prices. What's the best prices you guys are finding for .40. Right now I'm loading MG 180gr fmj's around $140 for 1k...... I'm looking to stay with 180gr fmj's
    Thanks,

I would certainly NOT go down to plated bullets, not when they cost as much as jacketed.
Cast lead is very good. Plated and jacketed bullets from .40 on up in size are just too expensive.
    For jacketed bullets:
Montana Gold 180gn JHP for $314/2300 or FMJ for $303/2500.
Precision Delta has jacketed for $115/1000, for a superior bullet to any plated bullet.
Zero, through Powder Valley, has Zero 180gn FMJ for $227/2000 ($113.50/1000) and they are in-stock. Also, they carry 180gn JHP for $235/2000 but they are out of stock currently.
I would order Zeros from Powder Valley or Precision Delta for the savings and having the bullets in stock.
Alternatively, you can order lead bullets:
For example, 180gn L-TC bullets from MasterCastBullets.com for $69.42/1000, which is less than 2/3 the price of jacketed/plated.
Missouri Bullets offers their IDP #5 bullets (180gn L-TCFP) for $38/500.
For almost as much as jacketed and plated, you can look into moly-kote bullets from Precision Bullets, Bayou Bullets, and Black Bullets International. These don't smoke as much as most lead bullets, but they aren't jacketed bullets, either.

I don't mean to sidetrack too much, But why not lead, I shoot all lead out of my 40's and pay less than $70/1K lead, they shoot to point of impact of my carry load,

yes the downside is about every 1500-2000 you have to clean out the barrel, and if you go more than that accuracy tends to wander but a cleaning fixes that.

If Cost is a large issue in loading then the price you pay for a lewis lead remover is ate up in the first 500 rounds you load.

    My 2 cents
