A friend of mine sold me a revolver that resembles a Colt Trooper,it is .38 Special, fixed sights, walnut grips...serial # puts the manufacture date at about 1970. Any info from Colt experts on here would be appreciated.

    Hello,
Your Metropolitan is a 38 caliber fixed sight J frame model introduced in 1969. It's the same heavy-medium sized frame as the more common 357 caliber Mark III's, the Lawman and Trooper. They have different lock work/ internals from all older Colt's. The Mark III transitioned later to the Mark V and the King Cobra. They're all great revolvers, designed to require less hand fitting.
    Regards, Tom
