I have a origional contender with a smattering of barrels and I was thinking of getting a .223 super 16" barrel and stocks and doing the carbine thing.

    Anyone else done this?

Can you shoot 556 in the .223 contender?

My stubby 35rem barrel is as accurate as all get out... What kind of accuracy can I expect out of the .223 in a 16" barrel?

The cost of wood rifle stocks for the contender are outrageous though...I have seen complete guns for what folks want for just the walnut rifle stocks.

Just wait till you see what people want for super 16 barrels.

Yes you cannot go wrong with a contender. Spend once cry once. Remeber the old style forearms and grips errrr stocks are not interchangeable woth the gen 2 stocks.

I have the .22LR Match barrel on my carbine. It is accurate beyond description.

And yes, Contender Carbine barrels are pricey.

Does anyone know if there is a source for .44 Mag. carbine length barrels? I have not been able to locate one that wasn't a custom proposition.

I have some Bell and Carlson (I think, camoflage synthetic at any rate. ) furniture for the original Contender frames and I've been considering the .44 mag option for a deer rifle as well. I traded away my .17 mach 2 bbl so the stock has just been gathering dust lately. It was amazingly accurate as a mach 2. Literally one hole at 25 yds.:yesway:
