...OK, for the whole family actually.
So along with reading a chaper of the book of Luke each night during this advent as a family (It tells the entire story of Jesus' life, coincidentally over 24 chapters... making it perfect for Advent reading) we were also loaned a really cool advent storybook as well. One of my wife's friends has the set, and loaned out several of the books to those in her circle.
We are reading this one. There is a whole series of them. Each tells a fictional story of a child that ends up being involved somehow in the birth of Jesus. And its an Advent reader, so one chapter is read per night, with scripture and a short devotional message at the end. This one is actually VERY good, and has some real cliffhangers. The kids LOVE it. Cant wait to buy the set and read a different book each Advent for the next 5 or so years. LOL
And the looks on the kids faces when they figure out who some characters are in the book are priceless. Jotham ends up in a caravan with some Magi from Persia. They are some smart dudes we might call astronomers today. It took a little coaxing, but when they figured out who they were (wise men) it was cool.
The kids are excited to sit down every night and read it. And the entire family enjoys it. I cant recommend them enough. Too late for this year, but definitely something to buy for next year.
