Thanks for the heads up. I just finished watching it. It's nice to be reaffirmed that I'm not crazy once in a while;) The end was disappointing, I can't help but wonder if this guy has a stash somewhere. I mean knowing what he knows, and the resources that have been available to him would make me think that late rent and eviction could only mean he spent his money on security elsewhere.

yeah i thought that i was possibly crazy before i watched this also. only like 1% of the population(if even) know the extent of these problems. i bet he's got something goin on security wise, but at the rate he smokes cigs in that movie it looks like he doesn't care very much about surviving in general lol.

No it's not based on the Jared Diamond book. Jared Diamond focused more on the Environment and not politics/economy.
Just watched it this afternoon... the end said it was based on his latest book, I forget what it's called but plan on going back to read it.

Good movie. Still believes in gobal warming though. In truth America will just continue to use coal, later nuclear power when we can build them. Cars will go to electric, and life will continue. Still, always good to be perpared.

As long as you've got your crystal ball out, wanna give me Wednesdays lottery numbers?

Fact is, there won't be a USA or any other international boundaries. It will be a global society with global currency. It's not that difficult to see why our "leader" is pressing so hard for socialism.......That's how they intend to restructure after the collapse and beginning in the midst of it in an attempt to maintain control and power. Duh. Are you ready to slave at the wind farm building towers and windmills day after day for your meager minuscule daily allowance of food and shelter? And your wife? What about the kids, do they even get to know who their parents are or does the state just take them at birth?.....1984

I agree that a nwo is coming. Any christrian should. But there are alot of different groups that want it. Bilderberg, UN, Muslim Botherhood, to name a few. Heck, throw in the lizard men if your paranoid enough. But only one can rule. That leader has not come yet.

Lets do a thought experiment, shall we. Oil's gone. Other resourses are gone. Any hydocarbons anyone uses costs your first born. Politicians still want to stay in power. Wealthly exec's still want to make piles of money. For either of those to happen society has to function.

Everyone assumes that when we run out of oil, we'll wake up the next day to Bartertown and Thunder Dome. It will be a slow meltdown. Some sector's will suffer, yes. Tires for example. not easy to replace, but not impossible. Plastic's to will become less common, but again not irreplaceable. Society functioned just fine without oil, and it will again.

I'm not saying the transition won't be rocky. After all, there will be those didn't prepare. But right now there's no reason to stop what works. Or to stop selling it either. Yes, oil will run out at some point soon. 20-30 years are the estimates I here. But what about shale gas? We have the 2 largest reserves in the world. Anything that can on natural gas can use shale gas, too. The man even said in the movie that most power stations in the US are coal or natural gas. So if the power stations are still using coal or gas to power steam generators, that means you and I will still have power to our homes long after gasoline runs dry. GM, Ford, and others will roll out thier uber effecticent eletric cars they have stashed in their vaults. And believe me they do. plastic bottle's will be replaced by glass and bigger tin cans. Meds may cost more, but they'll cost more anyway.

I'm also not saying don't perpare. I'm perpareing for the worst. Do I think some great disaster is right around the corner that destory all infrusture and end life as we know it. Not really, even with all Obama's done we're still working hard, supply rebel groups in the middle east and north africa like tunsia and libya to insure they use our curency and sell what oils' left at cost. I do it because its a good, soild idea.

From what I've gathered, at worst what will happen will be similar to russia after the soviet union, but with a little better welfare. But it probably won't be because of oil. Just my :twocents:, barring a war on american soil, civil or otherwise.
