Eagle doing the breast stroke

This video was taken at Mallard Lakes subdivision in Baton Rouge. Someone had shot a nutria, and it was floating dead in the water. After several attempts, the eagle decided to quit try to lift the nutria out of the water. Instead the eagle swam to shore with the nutria in tow.

I bet it was fairly shallow off that point and the Eagle was likely "standing' on the nutria as he hoped his way in to shore. remember, adults are by no means short birds.
