FN-AR 308 Loading

Hey INGO,

A friend of mine just got himself a FN-AR for Christmas and was planning on rolling some 308 loads for it. Being his reloading teacher he asked me what components I would suggest. I'm pretty familiar with loading for 308 but I did not know if the FN-AR had a free floating firing pin like an AR-15 or M1a? Obviously this will effect which primer I suggest that he gets and I wanted to make sure on my suggestion before I sent it (I don't want him to blow up his new rifle with a slamfire!). I don't know about the FN-AR, but I use Federal GMM primers and CCI for my AR-10T and RFB .308 gas guns. Never had a problem with either of those using my reloads.

Has anyone actually heard of a slam-fire happening in an AR-15 since Stoner lightened the firing pin back in '64? Have there been reports of the FN-ARs slam-firing?
