It was pretty obvious what was happening at the time. It is supposedly a fact that most car dealerships are owned by republicans. The bammer and his band of merry men did seem to politically motivated. It was difficult to understand why many dealerships that were actually making money and employing a lot of people were booted out of business with no real justification for his choices. Michael Savage even said that the rat turd Rattner says in his book that the bammer actually personally fired the former CEO of GM. What gave that prick the right to be firing anybody? The question now is what can be done about his politically motivated actions? Is it too late? The automobile industry is not the only industry that the bammer is eyeing to take over. The dirt bags in congress who do not think that they need to listen to the people and may be tossed out in the up-coming elections and are keeping a low profile and are trying to distance themselves from the bammer in hopes that we forget about their voting records, can still do a lot of damage between November and January should they be defeated and have nothing else to lose and want to get back at those who voted them out.

I heard that accusation early on, but I never heard that it had been proven.

Honestly, it doesn't matter. There was no rational basis presented for the dealership closings and ruining so many lives. Many of those dealerships were profitable and regardless, they were independently owned and didn't cost GM. Closing dealerships doesn't improve sales.

BO's "punish your enemies" approach has been used multiple times already. Someone may have made an effort to prove this that would hold up to serious scrutiny, but to what end? What would come of such an effort? Would people's livelihoods, wealth, and families be restored?

For what it is worth, the TARP Inspector General concluded that the closings were politically guided.

I think I've become a little cynical about our "public servants" motivations. When government is not limited by the Constitution, every decision is determined by whoever has the political power at the time. We must not vote insiders back into office, but that may not be enough, we the people are going to need to back this up with an insistence that our state assert its sovereignty over Federal power. Nullifying Federal laws that are outside the duties assigned to the Federal Government by the Constitution is going to be a necessary step in reclaiming our country.

Straight shooters like us usually only get 'one shot', if we ever get the opportunity. It's the same in the corporate world. It's been my experience that in large companies, liars and stretchers of the truth seem to get the breaks and honest, straightshooting individuals get left where they are to do all the work...

THATS FOR DAMN SURE!!!! People who lie and cheat and are all around the worse employees ever are the ones who stay and move up. Or then theres some that see all the illegal or inapropriate stuff and just keep their mouths shut, when to me they are just as guilty by covering it up. i never understand it. I dont think I will ever work in the private sector again.

Our community agitating Marxist Leninist Moaist Socialist Communist Chavez-loving Saudi-worshipping Castro wannabe president is more concerned about paying an executive than the failure of a titan.

Obama had difficulty with the "notion of writing a check that was about 100 times the annual income of a GM worker to the CEO who had brought the company down."

Obama "grimaced and reluctantly acquiesced," Rattner wrote. "I found it striking that the president of the United States had spent more time on an issue of executive pay than on the question of whether to dismiss a major CEO in the first place."

    This quote says it all.

"I would discover that the struggles of GM and Chrysler were as much a failure of management as a consequence of globalization, oil prices, and organized labor," he (Ratner) writes.
Sometimes big is little, and little is big. By my math, his compensation cost the GM customer $7 per vehicle. Who was responsible for the $2400 per vehicle that put GM out of balance and unable to compete with other auto manufacturers? UAW.
