To my understanding if you add a forward grip to any weapon, even my rimfire, this falls under the law as an AOW, correct ? Seems silly to have to get a $200 stamp from .gov to put a $20 item on my rifle to make it more fun to shoot. Please advise.

well damn. I could have bought one years ago but didn't know the law. Thank you very much. Gun stores around here don't know jack, they'll even tell you a suppressor is illegal.

Which gun store told you that suppressors are illegal?

One that hasn't been open for about 6 or 7 years in Mt.Vernon. Schroeder was the last name of the guy that ran it. His brother worked for him and he's the one that told me that. The newer outfit here gave me WAY better info on suppressors and I'll probably go through them to get mine when the time comes. They only charge $15 per transfer too, cheaper than Evansville near me.

I just bought my XDM from River City if that is where you are talking about. They are great guys and killer prices. They also have a gunsmith and were straight shooters and knew what they were talking about.

As they said... rifle is fine, handgun no. And don't shop anywhere that tells you cans are illegal. :)

    Know what's even more dumb?

Putting a bipod on a handgun is 100% perfectly legal.

    But a VFG isn't...without some hoop-jumping.

So, you could always look to find a small bipod...
