Whats the difference between the Gen3 and the Gen4 Glock 19? Besides the 3-15 rond mags instead of 2. Does it feel any different in your hand? I LOVE my buddy's Gen3 and am in the process of looking for one. Just wondering. Any info is appreciated.

    Thanks,

The Gen4's also have different grip texturing and a larger mag release, which is also reversible for a left handed person. Gen 4's come with 3 mags also vs the 2 that come with a Gen 3.

I've had a gen 3 and gen 4 and since I have smaller hands the mag release on the gen 4 helps me out a lot and I like the grip a lot better on the 4 myself

The biggest difference to me is the feel of the grip. The Gen 4 has a rougher texture to it. I personally like the Gen 3 better.

I've read complaints about the rough texturing of the Gen 4s irritating the skin with CC. If I ever find a G19 I'd like to pick it up but regardless of how it shoots if I'm not comfortable carrying it I'm afraid I'd have to pass. Any insight from current Gen 3/4 owners carrying?

I have owned both and currently own a Gen 4 19 I like the feel of the Gen4 better as for the rough texture I agree it is a little rough on the skin for a long day of carrying a way to counter that might be to wear a t shirt to offer a little buffer.

I have not had brass in the face but I have noticed it doesn't kick out brass as well as my old Gen3 I shot it for the first time Sunday and I did have a few shells hit my right arm and shoulder.

The felt recoil and muzzle flip seems to be a bit tamer with the Gen 4 due to the new recoil spring.

The mag release button is awesome and was a great design improvement in my opinion.

Best bet for you is to try them both out. You can't go wrong with either of them.

I CC a Gen4 19. You will want to wear an undershirt if you carry IWB. I love the grip and have had no issues with brass in the face or any failures for that matter. I make use of the swappable back straps because the nephews and the lady like to shoot it with the smaller grip. All in all, great gun!

Would it be possible to buy a Gen4 spring and install it into a gen3?

From reviews on the web, that may not be something that you would want even if you could do that. Apparently there were some issues with the dual spings when the weapon was first released.
