I wanna say the NOLA government learned its lesson from the last fiasco, but somehow I doubt they did.

Unlikely since they accept zero responsibility for their actions and inactions. It's a lot easier to point the finger at the Federal gov't.

Hey, at least THIS TIME, they're getting things ramped up ahead of time... Give them a small bit of credit down there in the chocolate city.

Yes, they are already getting set for another disaster, only this time they are putting up "IT'S BUSH'S FAULT" signs before the storm hits!!!!

There are some who are prepared

I hear the new Governor is a little better prepared than the previous hand-wringers and finger-pointers. Of course New Orleans re-elected the cell phone salesman mayor. I imagine he's holding meetings trying to figure out who to blame this time. I just recieved an email from a friend in NOLA who is packed and sacked and ready to evacuate. He has family in south Mississippi who are 15 miles from the coast but 100' higher than NOLA. He told me people down there still think he's a wacko, even after Katrina, because he keeps a "bug-out bag". Actually, his sounds more like a bug-out truckload. He didn't give me his inventory but he said he can support 5 adults for 5 days. I met him through a varmint hunter's forum, and he's a former LEO, so I guarantee he's got the "necessities". As of yesterday, they were just watching the storm's track and loading up stuff that can't be replaced. I think I'd have most of the family on the road already but I'm a chicken.

    Where's the bacon?

Somehow, this time, if they try to take the people's guns... I think they're likely to get the bullets first. At high speed.

Notice that I did not say "cartridges"; I said "bullets". This was intentional.

    Blessings,

My son is in Biloxi, he's getting the wife and and kids packed
up and on their way out of the area today.
I tried to talk him into getting them out on Friday.

He said it's already a madhouse down there, no supplies to be found
and long waits at the gas stations.

If anyone does decide to stay, they will be SOL! No assistance at all, curfew, questioned by police if found.....
