I don't understand a clear question from your question.... but look up lonewolf barrels. I think a threaded barrel is about $140.
Are you asking about benefits of a G17 vs a G22? If so, same dimensions all around, 9mm (G17) vs. 40 (G22). I like 9mm with good loads because of more capacity and tamer recoil, although recoil difference in negligible in full size guns.

Or you may understand this more clearly:
Those are thoughts are mine about guns the guns you asked for. guns good. G17 good bad G22 barrels cost monies or pesos in our neighbor countries

    cheers!

P.S. no grammatical rules were harmed in the making of this post

Some times it works, some times it doesn't . I have a Glock 22 with a threaded .40-9 conversion barrel so i can shoot my 9mm can on it. Mine has worked fine. SOme have issues of the .40 extractor or ejector (Can't remeber which) not working reliably with the 9mm.

The 9mm conversion barrels are fine for just tinkering or playing at the range but I wouldn't depend on it for any defensive needs. About the only conversion barrels I would trust for defense would be the 357 SIG/40 or 45ACP/40 corbon mix.

I agree with in625shooter. I've seen some 40 to 9MM conversions function 100%, while others have had reliability issues.

I ended up shooting almost always 9mm....

So I would go with the 17 so it will always work reliable.

I have a G31 with a 9mm conversion barrel, and it always works. However, it does not eject the same as a 17, seems like less power. It would not be first choice for a defensive 9mm handgun. But it does make an awesome plinker if you are just looking for cheap ammo to shoot. (if you can find any)

If you have the 31 then your answer is simple. Get the 17 for a "dedicated" 9mm platform but get the 40 cal model 22 barrel and you can use it with no issues in the 31. The reason is the 40 and 357 auto have the same specs at the rim so it works fine 100% of the tome where with a 9mm conversion is a couple thousand's of an inch off. yeah the 9mm works most of the time but not 100% in 40's or 357 SIG guns

I wouldn't convert a 22 to shoot 9mm. I'd either get the 17 and stick with 9mm. or get the 22 and use the .357Sig option.
