I can't imagine working a full-time job and practicing enough to get to the pro level. I work a full-time job and I barely find time to practice to maintain this mediocre level of competence.

Most "pro" shooters have full time jobs or businesses that don't have anything to do with firearms. I think that's partially why we still enjoy shooting. It's a hobby/passion not something we must do to keep good on the table.
I only shoot about 20,000 rounds per year which is low compared to some of the big name pistol guys or the top tactical trainer types. I've been hoping to double that number for two years now. Hopefully next year. The thing that's helped me the most waa building a 2 acre 10 yard range with 5 bays and a bunch of MGM steel at my house.
