I took my 10yr old to his first gun auction on Monday. We had a blast. My experiences at gun auctions is usually people over bidding guns and ammo and me usually leaving with my auction number.

The prices were very reasonable. We left with a Marlin mod60 and a Uberti cattleman 45 colt. My only regret is not getting the s&w 10-6 for $400.

Glad you had a great time with your son, sounds like an experience he will remember forever. Good to hear that auction prices weren't outrageous.

I miss live auctions. Last one locally was in November of 2020. Just found out the company, Sohn & Associates, has an online auction going now ending the 26th. Since I am local and can avoid shipping and some of the fees, I will have to check for bargains later this month.

I just won an auction on GunBroker a few days ago.
My Marlin model Glenfield 60 arrived today.
It is almost a perfect copy of the first .22 rifle I purchased with my own money.
The finish on the wood is in fantastic shape.
The bore is shiny and strong rifling.
Best of all, it's a 1980 production, which means it has the squirrel on the stock, and metal internals.
No plastic anywhere except the buffer and magazine follower.
The trigger group appears to be brand new.
If this thing has been fired, I'll bet it doesn't have 100 rounds down the barrel.

I paid almost exactly what I paid for my first one, new, but that was almost 50 years ago!

I knew it looked in good shape, but I was pleasantly surprised by how good it looks in person.
