    I've used it. I probably wouldn't put it on a blade I was going to use for food prep, but beyond that I don't think it would cause any problems.

    I use Canola oil on all my 1095 steel knives. It's the same stuff you use to spray a pan before cooking. A $1.79 can from Kroger lasts a long time.

    Do you have problems with the spray canola oil drying on the blade and leaving a sticky film?

    Not at all. To be honest though, my knives get a fair amount of use (I said fair, not "Grunt Soldier" level..:):). Regular use will help avoid any possible buildup. I've been using the Canola oil for about ten years with no issue.
