    Need some help folks..

I would like to have my H&R Topper barrel re-chambered from .22 Hornet to .22K Hornet.

Anyone around here on INGO have info on this??

YES, I DID check with my favorite Gunsmith here , AllenM, and He does not do that procedure..

    Thanks in advance..Bill.

No gunsmith I know will have that Reamer for that once in a lifetime job.

Buy the Reamer then hand it and your rifle to any competent gun machinist. That is how it works for unique and low demand chambering.

BTW, Jerry is building me a 30.06 boltgun now. Please don't distract him from that.

You could hand turn this job yourself if you rent a finish reamer and a go/no-go gauge. Clean the reamer every turn or so. Go slowly.

K-Hornet will headspace on the shoulder. Regular hornet on the rim. K holds more powder so it goes a little faster.

    Thanks-ALL Good Stuff..

I have posted this link before. Might need to be a sticky lol.

4D Reamer Rentals, Exclusive Source to Rent Chamber Reamers & for Renting Gunsmithing or Shotgun Tools

    They rent reamers.

^^^Thanks-My only worry on this would be if I had a PROBLEM getting my deposit back?? That could?? make the job very $$$...

The 22K Hornet isn't so much about velocity gains as much as extending case life by reduced case stretching.

^^^Correct, this would be the main reason for the conversion. The 300 fps, or so,gain would be nice too..

Thanks, and keep the info coming....Bill.

LOL, seen a few K hornets in my area.
Think some indeed went to a rifle maker for the conversion.
    Notice- I didn't say "gunsmith".
Actually a pretty common thing for guys that shoot varmints.
    I wouldn't spend much to redo a H&R.

How much will a rifle maker charge? What is the wait?

I'd proly just rent a reamer and do it myself.

The only way you won't get your money back is if you break the reamer.

That's the way it SHOULD be-BUT??

The only way you won't get your money back is if you break the reamer.

Who's to say that they would say, NOW it's dull, NOW it will not cut right, now the plating is peeled off, NOW you do NOT get your deposit back???

Do you (1911ly) personally know anyone that has used this service?
Not really to be cynical, but I like to "Trust but Verify", especially with that kind of $$ on a deposit.

    Thanks again..Bill.

That company's name has came up many times on another gun forum (gun builders forum) I belong to as a source for reamers. They are the only company that I have heard of rents them. It was just a suggestion as a option. I have no personal experience with them.
