i spent a lot of time during the past few squirrel seasons falling up and down the woods of the morgan monroe state forest. at the time i was carrying a remington 22 597 synthetic stock with a simmons .22 mag 4 x 32. last year however my dad bought a cheapo 17 hmr and is putting me to shame. i think i could even the score if i got a cz 17 hm2 topped with a mueller apv. what do you guys think?

That CZ is T-T's and beer when it comes to whacking squacks. Buy the 452 American or the 453 varmint with the set trigger and you'll never regret it. The Mueller isn't a bad scope but you may wish for thinner crosshairs if you start shooting tree rats at distance. I have a 1502 Anschutz, a Kimber Pro Varmint, and a 10/17 conversion that has had extensive accuracy work done to it including threading the bbl to the rcvr. All are minute of squirrel head out to 80 yds if I've got a good rest. I let my CZ american go a couple of months ago cause I had to thin the herd. It was/is as accurate as the three I have. just not as pricey. Best one I've had for accuracy was a 23" contender carbine bbl that I traded away. It was literally 1 hole at 25 yds. Five shots off bags looked like it never got any bigger than .177.

Go for the CZ. There was a 452 American 17 hm2 in the classifieds a few weeks ago. If I didn't have 3 alread I would have snatched it up. They are tack drivers!

I have a Ruger 77/17 in M2 and HMR, both have Leopld 6x42 with Fine Plex, rat killers for sure, chucks and coons too. I have 17cal Single Six revolvers to shoot too, but those are really load out of a 7" barrel!

I have 5 CZ 452s and love em all! I have a 452 LUX in .22, a 452 American Scout in .22, 2 452 American Varmints in .22 (Don't ask), and just picked up a 452 American in 17HMR. All shoot great, haven't shot the 17 yet but the test target is very impressive. For the money you really can't beat the CZs, just ask my buddies that shoot more expensive rifles!!! ;)

You need to try the CZ=they are so accurate and the trigger is great! i sighted mine in at 50 yards and it shot 5 shots under a 1/2 in.-I then went to 100 yards and sighted it in-very little adjustment needed-it is just a very flat shooting accurate rifle.
