Gotcha. Some of the street-level ones made me think you were roaming around snapping pics.

Glad this got resolved. Hope the hostages are OK.

Someone taking hostages, with guns and a bomb ... I wouldn't be in the street taking pictures.
    I would be far away.

I'm always amazed how close people get in those situations, including some of the first responders or even journalists.
Some people stayed on their balcony to take pictures, and videos, from across the street.

They had to ask people to move back once they heard the hostage-taker might have explosives.

Who are the guys in white?

SAMU (EMS) is advanced medical care most likely physicians.

They have ambulances staffed with one or two physicians, a nurse and a paramedic/EMT.

    Pretty much a mobile ER.

In France the doctor comes to the patient, not the patient to the doctor (stay and play) like it's done in the US (scoop and run).

MEDECIN means there's a physician on board.

They also have fast response vehicules to assit regular ambulances or to get to patient faster than a regular heavier and bigger ambulance could.

They can land directly in the middle of the road to meet with an ambulance crew if needed.
