    OK, so can someone tell me what were to happen if one were asked about the presence of a firearm, and just outright lied to the officer telling him/her no, when there was a firearm present.

    Is that breaking the law, I mean it is ok for the police to lie to people.

    Better off to say "nothing illegal". You didn't lie to them & you didn't tell them you are armed.:twocents:

    The issue is if an officer asks someone if they have a weapon on them, and the person answers they don't have an illegal weapon on them, that sound like a answer where they are attempting to hide the fact they have a weapon. So I will ask like this,

    Is it ILLEGAL to lie to an officer inquiring as to your carrying status?

    Why not just say nothing? I can't think of any reason to answer at all.

    You still didn't lie to them & you still didn't tell them you are armed.

    False reporting or informing
    (1) gives a false report of the commission of a crime or gives false information in the official investigation of the commission of a crime, knowing the report or information to be false;

    A LEO could possibly say he was investigating carrying without a license/stolen weapons or some such and charge you. I have no idea if such a charge would stick though.

    Why not just say nothing? I can't think of any reason to answer at all.

    You still didn't lie to them & you still didn't tell them you are armed.

    i still say instist that you have nothing illegal in your car or on your person and that you're going to envoke your 4th and 5th amendment and will no longer be speaking to the officer until you have your attorney present.

    The LEO arguments here sound like the exact same arguments that are made for "gun-free zones" and we all know how effective those are!
