First, my parents, my brother and sister.

Later, me and my three kids (Their mother passed away 5 years ago.)

Right now, all that is left of my birth family is my sister and me.

I go with the aforementioned: parents, siblings, spouse, children. I'm pretty sure thats the common definition, whether living in the same household or not.
