    I'm not disagreeing with you, but I think sticking to just one method or another to suit 100% of all situations is moronic.

    O I agree I think its great to have multiple methods to solve a problem at your disposal. It just seems to me that some of the "basics" in my mind are not being taught and if people are only taught to do the math in their head that can limit their capability unless they are an Einstein.

    It doesn't matter how large the number is

    Are you saying that you can multiply or divide extremely large numbers in your head without calculator or writing it down?

    Yes. Not as well or as fast as I'd like to, but that's correct. There's a threshold after which it's, frankly, easier to just use a calculator, but the process still works even on large numbers.
